This year's "Triumph National Rally" was this past weekend, running Friday thru Sunday. Friday is out for the employed and Saturday rained every other hour for the entire day so I decided to take a shot today (Sunday morning), even though it only ran through noon. I got there a bit before 9:30am, it's a little more than an hour's ride, and this is what I saw when I got there:

Not much.

To be fair, one of the regulars told me that [rainy] Saturday's turnout was "pretty good".

It was a beautiful morning, too, so I thought there would be at least something going on. Just that day's obligatory judging, hanging on by a thread. Instead of the usual 3 acres of rust, just grass (and not even the fun kind).

So, looked at the stragglers, stretched my legs and made my way back to my bike for the ride back. As I was getting my gear back on, who should pull up beside me (now one of 3 bikes in the parking area)? Ratdog! Wearing the same expression of confusion and disappointment that had just worn off of me. So, we hung a while, talked to a lunatic preparing to ride his Royal Enfield thumper all the way back to Virginia and tried to buy TShirts but they only had 2 sizes left, Tent and Hot Air Balloon (and there were a lot of them). We passed.

It was nice catching up with Ratdog. We poked at each other's bikes and took photos of each other taking a photo. Here is Ratdog taking a picture of me:

Gotta take your fun where you can find it.

So, the 2018 Triumph National Rally. This year, just A Nice Ride.

...and here's PapaSmurf.

Glad you were there!

Since I had a hall pass from the wife and it was a perfect morning to ride - I headed west on 73 after we parted company, rode all the way to 61, took 222 south and west to skirt downtown Reading, and finally turned back east on 568 through Maple Grove through the Hay Creek watershed to Scarlett's Mill, then home. The roads were uncrowded and twisty turny just the way I like'em!

Here's a photo I took at a favorite spot enroute.

Bummer, Paul, should have sent you a text before heading out on my FZ09 Sunday. Headed your way on 23w out to Blue "Balls" and took 897N to Blainsport. Got happily lost on Texter Mountain Rd, South Mountain Rd, and other roads named mountain-something. Back to 897 and out to Lebanon for lunch and a beer. Nice day...great riding. See you guys next time.

Finally met up with Daryl, Rd3line from PA. Took a 300 mile up and back ride to "Hawks Nest" in NY. It's a great ride thru the country along the Delaware river. There is a section of twisty roads where people on bikes and cars play with life and death. We had excellent weather met a lot of great bikers all along the way. I took the scenic route back that ended being a 12 he ride. It beat the shit out of me but we'll worth it.

Yes Ratdog, it is a great ride. I remember 611 north but not the rest of the roads. These roads twist and up and down the terrain
Makes it hard to take in all the beauty. Lots of homes and buildings from yesteryear. I have lots of free time these days and wouldn't mind catching up with PA riders.

This can be the best depiction of a Sunday trip to the South are with the bike on a long trip. I like this bag in the background, is it from Viking bags Link ?

Could not tell you, I don't have saddle bags. I don't know if you have a cold winter your way but you will have more time to decide. Sounds like you lean towards Viking. You can buy and return if not to your liking.
